When there is a narrowing or occlusion in the coronary arteries that supply the heart, the heart cannot be fed adequately and cannot perform its normal functions and the person complains of chest pain, fatal diseases such as heart attack (myocardial infarction) occur.
Coronary bypass surgery is a surgical intervention performed due to occlusion of the arteries (coronary) feeding the heart. For the bypass procedure, only the veins are taken from the patient such as leg vein, forearm artery, thoracic artery are used without causing loss of function in the place where they are taken and these veins are prepared and transferred to the sick area to restore blood circulation. The method of the procedure is choosen by the doctor due to the doctor’s medical evaluation regarding the patient’s medical condition.
The patient is discharged from the intensive care unit to stay in the service room. The patient starts exercises with the help of a physiotherapist to remove the sputum which is accumulated in the bronchi during the operation. Once the doctor decides for discharge of the patient, the patient can discharge from the hospital. The patient needs to follow the instructions of the doctor about daily routines, medicines, follow up appointments.
